Apple Announces iPhone 6 and Apple Watch and Apple Pay
September 12, 2014On September 9, 2014, Apple delivered their Keynote Presentation for the next generation of iPhone products. Not only did Apple reveal the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, both with larger screens, but Apple delighted the audience with its new Apple Watch. Of course all of these products eclipsed their announcement of Apple Pay. Apple is seriously positioned to take the technology world by storm by using their smart phones and watch gadget as the new gold standard in payment checkouts in thousands of businesses in the United States. Apparently pre-orders of the new phones have gone through the roof. But when was that otherwise with Apple? Still the lack of a removable battery and a removable micro-SD memory card makes me feel like the iPhone 6 isn’t really as next generation as promised. Yes, it does have the ability to shoot at 240 FPS, so that I could make some slow motion videos, but the camera still remains at only 12 Megapixels. Since I use my phone and iPod Touch to shoot lots of photos (see my iPhoneography section), I will probably wait until the iPhone 7 to make the leap from my old iPhone 4 and iTouch 5.
However, for those who do not own an Apple iPhone, I would recommend it, just because of how much I love their apps, especially their camera apps and their games. iPhone 6 starts at $199 and iPhone 6 Plus starts at $299, both with a 2 year contract. Apple Watch is $349. iPhone specs: iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm and iPhone 6+ is 7.1 mm. Pre-orders begin on Sept. 12th (today), pick up begins on Sept. 19th, and iOS8 releases on Sept. 17, 2014.
