ESPN has now added eSports to its list of competitive events at this year’s X Games. This historic moment is created by the partnership ESPN has formed with Major League Gaming (MLG), the alleged “global leader” in eSports. The X Games will taken place from June 6th to June 8th this year in Austin, Texas. X Games medals will be awarded to MLG Pro Gamers. The MLG Pro Circuit will be showcased alongside BMX, Skateboard, Moto X, Rally, and Stadium SUPER Trucks. Live music will also liven up the event for participants and spectators alike.

Participating in the X Games event are the top five Call of Duty: Ghosts teams based on their pro point rankings as well as the top three 2014 finishers from the Xbox Call of Duty Championship: CompLexity, EnVyUs and OpTic Gaming. COD: Ghosts will be played by the teams on Xbox One during the 3 day live event. For those fans who cannot make it to Austin, TX, MLG.tv is providing a live stream across all platforms.

“The popularity of competitive gaming and the MLG Pro Circuit is at an all-time high with millions watching the best gamers compete each month on MLG.tv,” said Don Reilley, MLG EVP Sales.  “This collaboration with X Games will help further bring MLG to the mainstream while we provide advertisers with quality exposure and deep engagement with our fan base on MLG.tv across all platforms.”

Tickets do not come cheaply though. Starting at $89 for the 3-day event up to $100 for the “3-Day Major League Gaming Premium Upgrade.” In addition to live stream, the X Games even will be aired by both ESPN and ABC.
