Drunk History S03E01: Celebrating the Past While Tying One On
October 27, 2015For those of you who never quite appreciated American history, “Drunk History” rides to the rescue again. This Comedy Central series, which grew out of a popular Funny or Die running segment, pairs co-creator Derek Waters with a comedian who tries (with great effort) to tell an event from American history. At the same time actors portray this anecdote, lip-syncing the dialogue. Did I mention the comic narrator is not sober?
This approach to history does not tie itself too closely to the facts in its dialogue. Despite that, the stories recounted are guaranteed 100% accurate. For tonight’s third season opener, “New Jersey,” the story of how paleontologists Othniel Marsh and Edward Cope became rivals is recounted and Penzias & Wilson discover the echo of the Big Bang. The guests in this episode are Greg Kinnear, Stephen Merchant, Justin Long, Jason Ritter, Tony Hale and Christopher Meloni. How will these drunken scientists make their discoveries? No promises except things are likely to be accurate and hilarious. You may even learn something.
“Drunken History.” Tuesdays at 10:30 P.M. Eastern and Pacific, Comedy Central.
